Two thoughts, 5 cent per KWhr is a good number for areas serviced by Hydro generated electricity, but areas like Michigan where most electricity is from coal(and the state regulators let the electric industry get away with !$@#@%!%) we pay closer to 10cents for a KWhr. The cooling and Heating of the passenger compartment should also be considered, as Mike C noted. However cooling and heating costs for conventional cars are not insignificant, even heating in winter can make a significant ding in MPG, I know because I tracked it very carefully for a few years, a car which did 23.5 MPG in mild weather did as little as 19MPG in cold.
